Successful onboarding ensures that you can buy and sell seamlessly on Trace. This guide will take you step by step, showing how to set up your account, verify your identity, and activate your wallet**—all with clear instructions and screenshots.
What is Trace?
Sabi Trace is a user-friendly online marketplace where buyers and sellers can trade raw materials. It simplifies the process of sourcing, selling, and managing transactions in the raw materials and minerals industry.
What Can You Do with Trace?
Currently, buyers and sellers who complete their onboarding and verification can:
- Test raw materials using Trace's integrated testing providers.
- List and manage products to showcase available raw materials.
- Buy and sell raw materials securely within the marketplace.
- Monitor price trends to stay updated on market fluctuations.
- Categorize products efficiently for easier navigation and discovery.
How to Register on Trace
To start using Trace, you need to create an account.'
Steps to Register:

Open the Trace registration page.

Enter your First Name, Last Name, Company Name, Email, Country, State, and Phone Number.

Set a password and agree to Trace’s terms and conditions.

Select whether you are registering as a Buyer, Seller or Laboratory.

Click "Sign Up".
📌 After signing up, Trace will send a One-Time Password (OTP) to your email. Enter the OTP to verify your email and complete your registration.
Onboarding as a Buyer
Once you register and log in as a buyer, you will see your Trace dashboard.
Step 1: Activate Your Wallet
Before you can trade, you must activate your wallet.
To activate your wallet:

Navigate to Wallet Activation in your dashboard.

Enter your Business Director’s Information:
- First Name, Last Name
- Director’s Email, Phone Number
- Gender, Date of Birth
- Business Registration Date
- Business Address

Verify key details required for Compliance approval:
- Phone Number
- BVN (Bank Verification Number)
- NIN (National Identification Number)
Each of these verifications must pass compliance checks before you can proceed.

Step 2: Verify Your Identity
To comply with regulatory requirements, you must verify your identity.

Upload a Government-issued identity document:
- Driver’s License
- Permanent Voter’s Card
- National Identity Card

Add your withdrawal account details so you can withdraw funds from your wallet.
- Account Number
- Select Bank
- Account Name
Once your wallet is activated, Trace provides you with a Katsu MFB account for transactions.
Step 3: Set Up Your Wallet PIN
After completing verification, you must secure your transactions.
- Create and confirm a 6-digit PIN to protect your wallet.
This PIN is required for all financial transactions within Trace.
Your wallet is now active, and you can start making transactions.
Step 4: Fund Your Wallet & Start Trading
Now you can choose to ;
- Add funds to your wallet via bank transfer or online payment.
- Transfer funds to:
- Another Trace Wallet
- Other bank accounts
- Your own bank account
Funds in your wallet can be used for purchases, withdrawals, and transfers.
Onboarding as a Seller
The process for sellers is similar to buyers, but sellers need to provide additional business verification details before they can start trading. Trace supports both registered and unregistered businesses, and the onboarding steps vary slightly based on your business type.
Step 1: Register as a Seller
- Go to the Trace registration page and sign up as a seller.
- Enter your personal details, including First Name, Last Name, Email, and Phone Number.
- Verify your email and phone number by entering the OTP sent to your registered email.
Step 2: Verify Your Business Type
After registering, sellers must verify their business by selecting their business type:
- Unregistered Business – For farmers, small-scale suppliers, and independent sellers.
- Registered Business – For legally registered companies, cooperatives, and corporations.
For Unregistered Businesses (e.g., Farmers, Small Suppliers)
If you run a small business that is not formally registered, you need to provide the following details:
1. Upload a Profile Photo
Sellers must upload a clear profile picture as part of their verification process.
2. Enter Personal Details
- First Name, Last Name
- Director’s Phone Number, Email Address
- Date of Birth, Gender
- Personal Address (Include landmarks or directions to your location if necessary)
3. Provide Business Information
- Business Start Date
- Business Address (This can be a farm location, marketplace stall, or any other relevant business address)
4. Upload Personal ID Documents
To verify your identity, upload one of the following government-issued documents:
- Driver’s License
- National ID Card
- Permanent Voter’s Card
- International Passport
5. Submit Details for Compliance Approval
Once all details are provided, your information is submitted to the Compliance Team for review.
You will receive a notification once your account has been reviewed and approved.
For Registered Businesses (e.g., Corporations, Cooperatives)
If you operate a legally registered business, you must provide additional company verification details.
1. Upload Company Logo
A company logo helps buyers identify and engage with your business.
2. Enter Company Details
- Company Name
- Company Address
- State and Local Government Area (LGA)
3. Provide Additional Company Details
- Incorporation Document
- Incorporation Number
- Date of Incorporation
- Proof of Business Address (e.g., utility bill, official company document, tax certificate)
4. Enter Director’s Details
- Director’s First Name, Last Name
- Director’s Email and Phone Number
5. Verify BVN and NIN
All registered businesses must verify the BVN (Bank Verification Number) and NIN (National Identification Number) of the business owner or director.
6. Upload Personal Identification
Upload a government-issued ID (Driver’s License, National ID, Voter’s Card, or International Passport) for the business director.
Once your account is verified, you can start listing products and engaging in trade on Trace.
Now that you’re verified as a seller, you can begin trading on Trace! Sellers can now list products, receive payments, and transfer earnings from their Trace wallet to their bank account.
Onboarding as a Laboratory
If you run a testing laboratory that verifies the quality of mineral samples, you can create an account on Trace as a Laboratory user.
Step 1: Create an Account
The account creation process is the same as buyers and sellers:
- Sign up on Trace by entering your First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone Number, Country, and State.
- Choose Laboratory as your user type.
- Verify your email and phone number using the OTP sent to your email.
- Log in to access your Laboratory Dashboard.
Step 2: Verify Your Laboratory Account
Before you can start testing mineral sample quality, you must verify your account.
When verifying, you will need to choose one of the following options:
- Registered Account (Trace account for your company)
- Unregistered Account (Trace account for yourself)
Step 3: Verification Process
For Registered Laboratories
If your laboratory is a registered business, the verification process is the same as registered sellers.

For Unregistered Laboratories
If you are operating as an independent testing provider, the verification process is the same as unregistered sellers.

- Provide certifications and reports on mineral composition and quality.
2. Samplers
- Collect samples from suppliers for testing.
- Ensure samples meet industry standards before they are sold or exported.
